Wiccan mysticism and kangaroo meat

After I had left Cos & Yola, Tina and all the other great people I was kind of in a limbo for a while, not sure what to do next... I decided that it'd be best to get a roof above so I started looking for a decent hostel. I found one, Elephant Backpackers on Flinders Street, and soon after that I bumped into a very nice and cute Austrian girl, Alexandra, whom with I had quite a blast for couple of days! :) I decided not to disturb Cos for he had told me about his huge working row thing, and was thinking of asking him what they were going to do in the weekend. And Franz and the others, I'm thinking of trying to meet everyone yet before I continue my trip to East Coast. :)

Alex and I visited the highest public watchtower in the Western Hemisphere, the Skydeck. It was really fun. Also we visited a local Casino, Melbourne Aquarium and stuff. I will be adding pictures as soon as Alex manages to get them out of her camera and send them to my e-mail.

Alex left Melbourne on Wednesday morning and we're supposed to meet again in Sydney in a couple of weeks. I hope we do. Such a lovely little thing that one. :)

After that I just drifted around, enjoying the fact that first time since I-don't-remember I was actually in no hurry to anywhere. But Tina had left one more surprise for me: Hers, Cos' and Rob's friend Ant, who lives in Brisbane, contacted me and told me that he can accommodate me and act as a guide when I arrive in his town!! This blew me away! Just where is the limit of the Australian kindness? Cool! Brisbane was on my list already, but now it's one of my main attractions. :)

After this I found myself utterly alone again, even though I knew it to be temporary, and right now I *really* enjoy and appreciate company. So after changing hostel to Greenhouse Backpackers on Flinders Lane I decided to go to the Cherry Bar again since I learned that to be the place for Headbangers in Mel and presumed that'd be my best bet to find some good company. And again, boy was I right!

I met and befriended very fast a very eccentric, interesting and wonderful duo, Katie and Hoops, who are not a couple but best friends.

Katie is a Wiccan, and I had some very interesting discussions with her about energies, flowing, chi and chakras. It's been a while since I've had interesting discussions about these themes and I enjoyed it a lot. :)

Hoops is an artist and a photographer, and quite a guy, his life philosophies are interesting stuff to hear and somehow we found the "red thread" right away.

After Cherry had closed we went to this place called the Joint Bar. We had such a great night, and Katie invited me to join her and Hoops for the night.

I have to say that Katie must live in one of the coolest environments I've ever seen! The place was a bit out of city center, an interesting, huge garage, where there was a bus that had been converted so it could accommodate people. The garage was linked into a knife store that also was a Café at the same time.

It was quite spooky to go through the garage, only light being a candle. :)

The next day we went downtown shopping and stuff, and in the evening I finally got to eat kangaroo meat, made by those two. D-liciuz! :) It's actually quite interesting, the kangaroo tastes like nothing I've eaten before. It's quite impossible to compare it into anything. But I liked it. The rest of the evening we spent in a bar called Gypsy Bar, where there was this very talented guitar player Jimmy, whom I also hope to meet again. And I entertained people mjavascript:void(0)yself by playing my Devil's Jawharp. :)

And tomorrow... who knows? In my current life, no day is like the last one. :)

Wicca-mystiikkaa ja kengurunlihaa

Tina oli jättänyt vielä yhden melkoisen yllätyksen minulle: Sain yllättäen e-mailin hänen, Cosin ja Robin ystävältä Anthonylta, joka asuu Brisbanessa. Hän kutsui minut Brisbaneen, lupasi majoittaa minut ja näyttää kovan luokan nähtävyyksiä, toimia kuskina ja tutustuttaa minut paikallisiin hevareihin! \m/ Siis mihin ihmeeseen tämän maan ihmisten ystävällisyys loppuu?! :D Brisbane oli todellakin yksi kohteistani listalla, mutta nyt se on se mitä odotan ehkä kaikkein eniten! :)

Alexin lähdettyä driftailtuani kyllikseni huomasin että minua vaivaa niinkin itselleni epätavallinen asia kuin yksinäisyys. Käpystin siis sitten jälleen Cherry Bariin, koska minusta tuntui että löydän sieltä aina jotakin. Ja löysin! :D

Katie on wicca-noita, selvänäkijä ja palmreader. Hänen kanssaan riitti mielenkiintoisia keskusteluja erilaisista ihmiskehon läpi kulkevista energioista, chistä, chakroista ja ties mistä. Vaikken jaakaan hänen uskontoaan, keskustelut monista aiheista olivat varsin mielenkiintoisia ja avasivat osittain myös omaa umpimielistä näkemystäni siitä miten asiat toimivat. Ei, en ole tulossa uskoon. ;)
Hoops on Katien hyvä ystävä, valokuvaaja ja taiteilija, ja yksi joviaaleimmista tyypeistä joihin olen ikinä törmännyt, hänen seurassaan ei voi kuin viihtyä.

Cherryn mentyä kiinni siirryimme Joint Bar-nimiseen paikkaan, tarkastettuani ensin ettei se ainoa ihminen jota en halua nähdä ollut siellä. Paikan portsari veti aika tyylikkäät: Hän tunnisti minut suomalaiseksi kasvojen muodon perusteella... se oli aika outoa... O_o

Illan päätteeksi Katie kutsui minut kotiinsa, ja täytyy sanoa että se koti onkin sitten siisteimpiä koteja mitä olen konsanaan nähnyt! Hän asuu asumiskelpoiseksi muutetussa bussissa, ja se taas sijaitsee garagessa joka on aivan täynnä mitä kummallisinta tavaraa ja rojua. Kaiken lisäksi se garage kuuluu teräaseliikkeeseen joka toimii samalla kahvilana jolla on a-oikeudet! :D
Paikka oli todella spooky, kun ainoa valonlähde oli yksi kynttilä... :)


Seuraavana päivänä kävimme shoppailemassa, ja illalla minulle tarjottiin kengurunlihaa! Se on todella hyvää, 98% rasvatonta ja maistuu aivan omalta jutultaan, sitä on melkoisen mahdoton yrittää kuvata tai verrata mihinkään. Mutta minä pidin siitä paljon.
Loppuilta meni The Gypsy Bar-nimisessä paikassa, jossa kitaraa soitti varsin taitava kaveri nimeltä Jimmy, ja toivon että pääsen tapaamaan hänet vielä uudestaan. Viihdytin vielä illan päätteeksi puolitusinaista seuruettamme soittamalla itse munniharppuani. Oli melkoinen menestys! :)

Näin täällä. Huomisesta en lähde edes veikkaamaan vielä mitään. Täällä tapahtuu niin paljon koko ajan. :) Nyt olen jälleen niin puhki (kello on täällä hiukan vaille viisi aamulla) että painelen petiin ja varaan oikeuden korjata mahdolliset kirjoitusvirheet myöhemmin. Live long and prosper!
